Conceptualized in 2019, Mindy’s is a game about running a food truck in space. The player faces many challenges such as cooking in zero gravity, space pirates, and discovering new recipes.
Development initially began in 2019 in Unity Engine. However, as technologies have evolved, the decision was made to switch to Unreal Engine 5 in 2022.
The core gameplay mechanics have been ported over into Unreal Engine 5. Players can now buy ingredients, prepare them, and sell finished dishes. In addition, these mechanics are now functioning in a multiplayer setting, a gameplay layer that the Unity version never had.
By taking an Agile approach to guide the game’s development, we’ve been able to make rapid iterations which has allowed us the flexibility to experience how gameplay features interact with each other and modify them as needed to optimize the player experience.
Interactables and UI elements have clear physical places in the world to enable VR support in the future.
